Spooky Season Book Recommendations!
I love the solitude of reading. I love the deep dive into someone else’s story, the delicious ache of the last page. – Naomi Shihab Nye
As a mom, it is hard to have hobbies in this season of life. Self-care is on a much smaller scale. Since the pandemic, my love for reading has been restored. Whether it is a physical book or an audiobook, reading has been such a fun addition to my daily routine! What better time of year for readers than the cozy “ber” months? Spooky season is upon us and because we live in the Deep South, we have to cosplay like it is actually “sweater weather.” Romanticize your life with tea, pumpkin candles, and a light fall read.
Here are a few of my favorites that I have read so far!
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna: This is one of my favorite reads for the fall! The story follows a witch in her thirties who becomes a tutor to three orphaned witches. The characters and plot are simply delightful. I have reread this book 3 or 4 times.
The House Witch: A Humorous Romantic Fantasy by Delemhach: I love a good romantasy! This story is about a witch (shocker!), whose power revolves around making a home as cozy as possible.
A Million Junes by Emily Henry: Emily Henry can do no wrong! This read is all about two families who have had a feud for generations. It is a take on Romeo and Juliette with a dash of magic. This coming of age story is a satisfying read that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst: My caveat is that I have not finished this one! It is a cottagecore romantasy with really sweet friendships, books, magic, and a sentient spider plant. It has been adorable so far. I love the world the author created and the lead character is really relatable. It is a light read full of whimsy.
To Have and to Hoax (Book 1 of The Regency Vows Series) by Martha Waters: If you want a regency book that will combine your love for Bridgerton and spooky season, this is a really fun read!
A Court of Thorns and Roses Series: This 5 book series has gotten so many I know back into reading! This romantasy is action pact and a really fun series to start as we enter the cooler months.
