Beautiful Crazy Moments
Word for Word
It was a birthday gift that changed the dynamic between us. This singer truly caught my eye and attention with his voice and his words. The lyrics to his song “Beautiful Crazy” are literally me! My husband gifted me with a framed art piece of my favorite song lyrics by Luke Combs, along with five red birds to represent our family. It was incredibly touching and is now the most cherished gift that hangs on the walls of our bedroom.
From that Day Forward
He became the only artist I listened to for a while. Both my husband and I would take every chance we got to listen to music during the busy day-to-day. I can recall my sister once saying, “Girl, Luke can sang!” Plenty of songs later, and I haven’t skipped a beat.
Our car rides turned into mini-concerts where my husband and I sang our hearts out to his music because so many of his songs relate to our lives. In August of 2023, I came across a Facebook post on Luke Combs’ page listing his concert dates. This time, I decided to surprise my husband with tickets to his Houston, Texas show as a combined anniversary and birthday gift!
That Weekend Finally Came
Our nineteenth anniversary came by so quickly that it was time to pack up and head out. We made the most of our Houston weekend, meeting up with family, trying out three new restaurants (Pappasito’s, Truth BBQ, and State of Grace), and stopping by a new whiskey store on our checklist (Debb’s Liquor) for hidden treasures — whiskey we can’t always find locally. Our all-time favorite, though, is Buc-ee’s, of course. It’s not just for gas; the food is amazing!
After our daytime adventures, it was time to get ready and head out to see the man of the weekend. It wasn’t our first country concert, but it was undoubtedly the best one yet! We stood up and sang all night long. We embraced and sang “Beautiful Crazy”, “Loving On You” and “The Kind of Love We Make” along with other songs, word for word, kissed, and never sat down. The crowd behind and in front of us made the evening even more fun, joining in with their voices, yells, and screams. The show was incredible — Luke is truly a performer, and the crowd went wild! I won’t forget to mention Jordan Davis, one of the performers who opened for Luke; he was awesome as well.
Take the Time
Life is short, and time is precious. Find the time, take the trip, buy the concert tickets, and know that it’s okay to have time for your spouse as well as your kids. There is nothing more precious than making memories, taking a break, and enjoying it all. It’s all about planning, for the most part, but spur-of-the-moment memories are just as fun and certainly worth it!
