Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy: Family-Friendly To Go Meals in Acadiana

I think that one of the good things that has come from the Coronavirus is the growing popularity of the family meal to-go.

Even before the Coronavirus, I had been looking for meals that I could pick up to eat with my family at home that were both delicious and big enough to feed us without breaking the bank. Now that I have an infant and have returned back to the working world, it is even more important to have family-sized meals that can just grab, heat, and eat with my family.

Here are some of the most delicious family-friendly options in Acadiana!

Hungry as a Mother

This Broussard option has a few of my favorite things: tasty meals that include delicious veggies, order ahead option for meal prep, and a drive-thru. Our favorite thus far has been the crawfish casserole! Check out her Facebook page to order for the weekly meal prep! Order by the plate (and keep your portions under control) or contact the chef for a family-style meal! They have keto options and you can contact the chef for any other dietary preferences.

Supper Club Lafayette

Do you know what I like just as much as a drive-thru?? FREE DELIVERY! And gourmet-style meals with free delivery??? Sign me up! Chef Bart dishes up delicious and unique dinners with options to purchase additional servings a la carte for family members with a bigger appetite and separate children’s plates so that the kiddos can have what they want while you enjoy a culinary treat! Not to mention that the prices are super reasonable (and quite frankly, you can charge me 3 times as much as long as I don’t have to leave the house or cook the dinner).

Toot Toot’s Kitchen

Toot Toot’s Kitchen started the family-style to go revolution and The Fuselier household is so happy that they did. Toot Toot’s has a fluid menu that changes daily. You can choose a “half pan” or “full pan” option depending on the size of your family. Each entrée comes with a side and often bread! I hear that the rolls are delish….I’ve never gotten to try one myself because my 5-year-old snags mine every time. From red beans to crawfish and shrimp fettuccine to roasted vegetable and shrimp salad, everything that we have picked up has been a major win. Check their website for free cookies, cake, or the Balloon Man! AND, they are still offering curbside, thank you thank you. Oh, and did I mention regular deals on bottles of wine???? Yeah, I’ll see you there.

Taco Sisters

This midtown favorite has an extensive grab and go menu with, you guessed it, A DRIVE THRU! Their grab and go menu includes soups and 4 family dinner options that are sure to please. Our favorite has been the Shrimp and Spinach Enchiladas for only $36. And even though it doesn’t appear on the menu, ask about the taco family meal deal that includes tortillas, cheese, a protein, beans, pico and that amazing Taco Sister’s sauce. Delish!

Zea’s

I know what you’re thinking. Zea’s?? Isn’t that expensive? That’s date night food! Their family meals are shockingly affordable and just as delicious as the last time you had a night out. They have a variety of options that all include salad, sides, and tea! (Except for the Fried Chicken and Red Beans which doesn’t include sides). We got the Breaux Bridge Pasta family meal and ate it for 2 days. It was a ton of food and we basically licked the plates. And, they are offering curbside, free delivery for orders $50 and up, and reasonably priced wine and beer for pickup.

Acadian Slice

I’m talking pie. I’m talking sweet and savory pie! This staple at the farmer’s market is offering free delivery with an order of $20 or more. For our dinner, we ordered the Crawshank redemption and 2 hand pies for dessert (the hand pies didn’t make it to dinner, sorry kid). The 9″ savory pies easily feed a family of 4 for dinner!

La Pizzaria

This Lafayette staple that also has a Carencro location, has really upped their game with family meals that serve 4-6 people with salad and bread. They are offering several of their most popular items family-style, such as the Pesto Pasta Salad and Eggplant Parmesan. And, they offer online ordering (hello to all my introverts!) and curbside pickup! My mouth is watering just thinking of it.

Dinnerly

Dinnerly is not a local option for prepared food. But, sometimes you want to cook! Dinnerly is a meal delivery box that is super affordable and very relatable for tiny palates. We have tried Blue Apron and Hello Fresh and both my husband and son found the recipes a little too unfamiliar for their tastes (I enjoy the culinary journey, but 2 against 1).  For the family option, the servings are generous and delicious, without being just burgers and fries (burgers and fries are fine, but sometimes you want an actual meal!) So far, the faves have been Skillet Pesto Tortellini and Ginger Soy Stir Fried Noodles!

What other family meal options have you found???
