In Lafayette we are lucky to have a variety of amazing healthcare facilities and birth resources. It is our hope that this guide, and the reader recommendations at the end of this guide, will help you find a doctor that will meet or exceed your needs during one of the most exciting times in your life!

“Women, don’t ever apologize for your behavior or choices during birth. When you OWN your experience and take pride in your journey, you help other women do the same thing. No matter how you did it, you just brought a human being into the world! The world should be kneeling at your feet.” – Lauralyn Curtis

Dr. Amanda Alleyn – “Dr. Alleyn is a wonderful doctor. She is attentive, listens, and explores all available options with her patients. She has a great demeanor that makes me feel so comfortable at each visit.

Dr. Daniel Borque– “Dr. Daniel Bourque is the best! He is so very kind and patient with his patients. He spends time with you and makes you feel like he has nowhere else to be. Delivered all three of my babies and I am so happy I found him when I moved to Lafayette! And his NP Jordan is equally amazing!

Dr. Darryl Elias- “Dr. Darryl Elias is absolutely the BEST! He is super down to earth and he doesn’t just throw medical terms at people. He doesn’t beat around the bush, but he does have compassion. He did both of my c sections for my 3 year old and 1 month old. He keeps you completely calm and even had me laughing during the surgery. Grateful for him and his entire staff!”

Dr. John Fuselier– “Dr. John Fuselier is my favorite doctor I have ever had! I recommend him to everyone! I found out during my second pregnancy that I would need to find a new OB/GYN for future pregnancies because my doctor was retiring. I was high risk at that time because my baby had been diagnosed with Anencephaly and I was experiencing Polyhydramnios. When it was time to deliver, Dr. Fuselier was on call at Women’s. He handled me, my family and my sweet angel with so much care, understanding, and gentleness. I knew from that moment that he would be my OBGYN. He has cared for me through three more pregnancies and delivered all of my rainbow babies. He takes his time to listen to my concerns every time I see him in his office and he asks about each of my children, which means so much to me.

Dr. Abigail Hart-“Dr Hart is amazing!! Great bedside manner, great patient relations, and just a great person. She’s very understanding and looks out for all your health need not just being your OB/GYN.

Dr. Erin Hemsell“Dr. Erin Hemsell delivered all 3 of my babies and she was absolutely wonderful, compassionate & truly cares and each and every one of her patients. Her nursing staff is just as amazing! I would recommend her to absolutely anyone.”

Dr. Mika King– “Dr. Mika King, with Acadiana Women’s Heath Group, has been my doctor for over 15 years. She is bright, very supportive, and empathetic. Dr. King has held my hand through one tough pregnancy, one high-risk pregnancy, and two miscarriages. I know everyone thinks their doctor is the best, but mine REALLY is!

Dr. Opal Leblanc – “She’s been my OB since my first was born and delivered 2/3 of my kiddos. She has a wonderful way of being kind and patient, but also very straightforward and direct. She’s given me great news and tough news and we’ve had all the conversations in between. I can always tell she listens and trusts my own judgment, always factoring it into the equation.

Dr. Charles Padgett- “Love love love Dr. Padgett! He made my natural birth possible and really empowered me. Sweetest Doctor ever!”

  1. Dr Paul Dibbs was my high risk doctor. I was nervous at first because I had a female OBGYN for my other children. He made me feel safe and well cared for. He is very knowledgeable and in my opinion one of the best in his field.I was hospitalized due to preeclampsia and had to be delivered at 33 weeks. I knew me and my baby were in the best hands possible. I would reccommend him to anyone out there looking for high risk care. Lafayette General is an amazing hospital and they give the best care to mother and baby. The NICU staff and doctors are wonderful and took great care of our little boy! Thanks Dr Dibbs and Lafayette General
