“When a woman finally learns that pleasing the world is impossible, she becomes free to learn how to please herself.” ― Glennon DoyleUntamed

I LOVE Glennon Doyle, the author of Untamed. I read this book and felt like she had put the pieces together of the challenges of being a woman. I put the book down and felt empowered to navigate life more authentically and with courage. She began a podcast in May of 2021 titled “We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle.” I had been watching her on Instagram and Facebook throughout the pandemic and her reaction to the chaos of the world gave me a lot of comfort, wisdom, and grace for myself. The podcast was an extension of this experience! Here are the reasons why I am obsessed with We Can Do Hard Things:

Motherhood: I LOVE how she speaks about motherhood. She acknowledges the hard parts of being a mom without making you feel ashamed for being human. Being a mom is a beautiful life experience, but not always an easy one. She validates the full experience of motherhood.

“There is no greater burden on a child than the unlived life of a parent.”
― Glennon Doyle, Untamed

Mental Health: She is extremely candid about her mental health struggles. She is open about what works for her and what doesn’t. SO many people struggle with their mental health (especially mothers.) It is such a gift to hear someone speak with openness about mental health.

Her Guests: Her guests are amazing! She has had Brené Brown, Brandi Carlile, Martha Beck, and Emily Nagoski on her podcast. The topics are always captivating and encourage you to be a more loving person to those around you including yourself.

She Helps Me to Be a Better Ally! Glennon is married to Abby Wambach, an incredibly talented retired soccer player. Hearing her speak about her journey of coming out, embracing her sexuality, and finding love is inspiring. I continuously learn new ways to be a better ally to the LGBTQIA+ community.
