The Skin Loft Med Spa: Finding a New Face and New Friendships

Need a spa visit yourself? Check out The Skin Loft’s gift to you at the end of this post!

A med spa can sound daunting and a bit intimidating too!

Truth be told, I went to a med spa when I lived in Houston where I felt more like an alien specimen from outer space than a client. During my visit to this Houston based med spa, my face was placed in some machine so the aesthetician could really evaluate EVERY. LITTLE. THING. that was wrong – clogged pores, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles – as if I didn’t already know I had/have skin issues and was there for a treatment to correct said issues! Needless to say, I did not return to this med spa because a spa is supposed to be relaxing, right? Not give me a complex about what I already know is wrong.

When I had the chance to visit The Skin Loft Med Spa in Lafayette, the fact that they are also a med spa quickly left my mind. Medical Spa in LafayetteOwner, Billie, would tell you that it is a medical spa with a day spa feel which truly captures my feeling of her business.  It’s a small spa that’s cozy, but with just enough space to make you feel at ease and comfortable. I was warmly greeted by the front desk staff where I noticed all the top of the line skin care products including SkinCeuticals, Obagi, Skin Medica and more.

Step inside and relax immediately

As I checked in, I was invited to a quiet, and cozy waiting room where I was offered a warm soak for my feet and the option of water, wine, or a mimosa (next time I won’t decline the mimosa, but you know, it was a work day after all). There was also coffee and an assortment of snacks to choose from. Soon thereafter, my aesthetician invited me to my treatment room where I was met with dim lights, a heated bed, and the sound of rainwater to set the stage – cue the gods of rest and relaxation, I had indeed arrived.

I received a dermaplaning treatment for the first time ever + a microdermabrasion with an infusion

Dermaplaning is kind of like shaving using a small straight blade that is scraped across the skin. I was a little nervous with a straight blade being taken to my face, but the aesthetician assured me she would be Relax at the Skin Loft Med Spa with skin treatmentcareful and there is actually little to no downtime post treatment. This procedure removes dead skin cells and vellus hairs and assists in reducing fine lines and smoothing the skin. Microdermabrasion improves the overall tone, texture, and color of your skin while the infusion is a specific enhancement that is catered toward treating a specific issue – I was treated with a serum that assists with my postpartum hyperpigmentation issues (otherwise known as melasma). All of the treatments were enjoyable, painless, and left me feeling more confident and rejuvenated. And for someone who was a first-timer to dermaplaning, I would say it is definitely a winner!

As I write this, I can say that my skin feels super soft and as if it is glowing – truly!

I keep touching my face wondering how this could possibly be my own skin! But beyond the amazing experience and services I received throughout my time there, I felt at home and comfortable in my own skin there – clogged pores, hyperpigmentation and all! I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Billie, the owner, and I left thinking that I had just been chatting with an old Skin Loft Med Spa Faces and Friendshipfriend. Billie, who has been in the business for over 24 years, is driven each day by taking care of her clients who are also her friends. To her, this business is about relationships, not revenue.  She imparts the same attitude amongst her staff and it is apparent that each one of them loves coming to work each day. To top it off, Billie even helped me go through my current products at home and gave her suggestions on what I should ditch and what I should add . She also shared a secret skincare tip with me (no it’s not botox), but I guess you will have to go visit The Skin Loft yourself to find out what her best kept skincare secret is.

So if you are nervous about trying a new skin treatment because you previously felt like an alien species being examined, go ahead and try the Skin Loft where you can relax and feel at ease. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated with your treatment and most certainly as if you have acquired new friends along the way.

Billie Mick and her team at The Skin Loft Med Spa would like to offer anyone who is reading this post a $50 gift card to experience a skincare treatment of their choosing, a $50 gift card toward a full set of lashes, and get your first one hour massage for only $59  (gift card offers exclude waxing services and products). Anne Elise Doise
Anne Elise, a Lafayette native, is enjoying the joys of motherhood while balancing her career as a real estate agent for a local company and working for the Lafayette Mom. Between the day to day household affairs and keeping up with her little blue eyed boy, she also enjoys anything to work up a sweat, Broadway musicals, cooking classes, and football! She and her husband, Michael, met in high school, but thought it would be easier to start a relationship while she attended graduate school in Dallas and while he pursued his MBA in New Orleans (just a bit of sarcasm). A few short months after they married, they took off again to Houston where Anne Elise became a law school career counselor for the University of Houston Law Center. She and her husband have finally made their way home again to Cajun Country.
