Holiday Chex Mix :: The Perfect Savory Treat

I grew up in a house that was always decorated for the current holiday. We celebrated them all.

My mom is a holiday hype girl.

When I had my first baby in 2015, I suddenly felt this urge to cultivate family traditions for my own nuclear family.

So I did. For our first Christmas as parents, I was less than 2 months postpartum and still in rough shape, but I let my holiday light shine.

I stumbled across this blog post for Christmas Eve Chex Mix on Pinterest one night while nursing and I was sold. The blog post instantly transported me to the kitchen where the Chex mix is being prepared and the smells filled my mind. I am surrounded by sweets lovers; I am all about the salty.

I remembered my sweet Grandmama making Chex Mix when I was little. You know, the heavily nut-filled Chex mix that you find at holiday parties?

So Holiday Chex Mix became a thing. I usually make it around Thanksgiving in a giant batch. We eat some around that holiday and freeze it for Christmas parties and family celebrations.

Last year my kids really enjoyed it and look forward to making it again this year. I have changed up the original blog post recipe linked above, and we add in a few things every year. I added Cheerios this year.  Just be careful if you add anything that is really flavored. One year we added spicy Cheese-Its. The whole batch tasted like them!

I hope you enjoy!
