A (Nearly) Free Thanksgiving Meal

With everyone still recovering from COVID related stress, hurricanes, or whatever else life may have thrown at you, it’s great to see companies giving back in whatever way they can. This year, Walmart has partnered with Ibotta (a mobile cashback rebate company) to provide what they are calling the Free Thanksgiving Event, now through November 24th (or while supplies last).

Inside the app, you will find the following:

$15 back on a frozen turkey of your choosing

$1.96 back on a Coca Cola 2 Liter bottle

$0.98 back on a Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup

$1.00 back on one bag of Bird Eye Frozen Vegetables

$1.88 back on Idahoan Family Sized Mashed Potatoes

$0.82 back on Great Value Flavored Mixed Stuffing

$1.12 back on McCormick Gravy Packet

$0.67 back on Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix

$1.28 back on Great Value Cranberry Jelly

$2.28 back on Great Value French Fried Onions

Please note the size of each package for each rebate within the app, and while most items show one unique flavor, the description reads any variety.

How it works:

Download the Ibotta app and sign up if you don’t already have it.

“Add” each rebate into your cart by clicking the check button.

Shop for these items – Walmart offers in store, pick up and delivery as options.

Redeem your rebates! If you shop in store, you will be prompted to scan the barcode on the bottom of your receipt. If you shopped pick up or delivery, you will be asked to link your Walmart account to the Ibotta App and it will instantaneously redeem your rebates!

Cash out your Rewards!

Ibotta requires a minimum rebate accumulation of $20 before allowing you the option to cash out your rewards via a gift card, paypal or select banks. Luckily, if you get all the items on the Free Thanksgiving Event, it equals $26.99 so you instantly qualify to pay yourself back the rebate rewards and have gotten a nearly complete Thanksgiving meal for free! Please note that some items may be slightly more or less in store that the price listed on the Ibotta rewards, due to market pricing throughout the US. For example, my selected Bird’s Eye veggie was a little more than $1.00 but my chosen turkey was less than $15.

Thanksgiving Add Ons – If you go for the super traditional Thanksgiving meal, you will still need green beans to complete the green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, rolls and pumpkin pie.

An additional note, Ibotta has several retailers they work with, so savings can be found through other companies as well. However, you must use Walmart to take advantage of the Free Thanksgiving Event. Hope this helps you save some money during your Thanksgiving shopping this year, whether you chose to use the app all year or for this one event only!

Happy Savings!
