How Many Tacos is Too Many? #notaskingforafriend

A few months ago, my husband texted me out of the blue to ask if I wanted tacos for lunch. Of course I did. I always want tacos. My intense and enduring love of tacos is a running joke in our household. (See this previously written meal planning article about how I make tacos every Tuesday). He went on to tell me that he read about a taco truck on reddit and wanted to check it out. So of course, I was on board. That first heavenly lunch has turned into a weekly lunch date. We have tried just about everything on the menu at this point, and it is all GOLD.

Taqueria El Tapatio is a food truck located at the corner of Congress and Rue de Belier in the gas station / laundromat parking lot. In addition to the menu pictured above, they also have tamales and Elote (Mexican street corn). You can call ahead and they will have your order ready. The food is authentic Mexican. The people are super sweet. I seriously can’t recommend this place enough, and as I sit here writing, I am thinking about what I am going to order for lunch. Today. Because tacos. (For the record, a steak torta and a spicy pork tostada).

Don’t sleep on the Elote. And everything is delicious.

So what are the dishes we keep ordering again and again? I love the steak tacos covered in cilantro. My husband and the kids are all about the quesadillas. And we have never placed an order without the spicy pork tostadas. Every dish comes with marinated carrots and grilled onions. I will also note that the following dishes are some of the most delicious foods I have ever eaten and they make regular appearances in our ordering rotation: the torta is a po-boy and my new go to when I want a super delicious sandwich, the mulitas are like mini-quesadillas and the perfect size for our girls, the sopes are like tiny Mexican corn pizzas(!), and you can’t go wrong with the carne asada or chicken fajitas. But seriously, everything is delicious, and don’t sleep on the Elote.

Note: This post is not sponsored in any way. I did not receive anything for writing this post. I just feel like it is my duty to the public to spread the word about this taco truck.
