I recently joined TiK Tok, which is absolutely crazy for a person who is trying to limit their social media time to do. But here we are. I get really sucked into the cooking videos. You know, the ones where the kids make something we have been eating since the dawn of time and add a new ingredient or way of preparing it and the world goes crazy. Well, I am here to share with you a new twist on a very old classic. Pigs in a blanket.
Pigs in a Blanket
- 1 can of crescent rolls
- 1 pack of Lit’l Smokey sausage
- Shredded cheese
- 1 can of Parmesan cheese
- Butter
- Garlic
- Parsley
- Tony’s or seasoning of your choice
Unroll crescent rolls. Sprinkle shredded cheese onto the unrolled crescent roll. Add sausage and roll. Bake according to the crescent roll package. In a small bowl put a teaspoon of butter into a bowl add garlic, parsley, and Tony’s, and melt in the microwave for 20 seconds. Once Pigs in a blanket are baked, baste them with butter mixture and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. Bake in oven for 3-5 minutes.
The first time I made this, I remained true to the classic and used the Lit’l Smokies. However, the next time I make it, I will get a little bougie and try it with prosciutto and a fancier cheese. I’m thinking smoked gouda. You can go meatless and use cooked shrimp or crawfish. Or simply just use cheese. This is an easy weeknight meal, just add a soup or salad. It can also be an elevated hors ‘d oeuvres for a dinner party or potluck. Is it Tik Tok worthy? I’ll let you be the judge.
Bon Appetite!
