Dear Facebook, are You Listening? :: Winning Products Found with Targeted Advertising

We’ve all done it.

You’re scrolling through Facebook and you see a product that looks interesting. You think, “Well that seems like something I need in my life.” It seems quite serendipitous, you were just talking about or searching this product. Curious … almost like Facebook is listening!

You do your due diligence. The comments look good. Payment looks legit.

Then the product arrives and it’s a size XXL swim suit that wouldn’t even fit your daughter’s Barbie Doll.

I once had a great deal on 12 terra cotta pots pop up in my Facebook feed only to have them arrive in a box smaller than my hand.

Then you tell yourself, “I will never order anything advertised off of Facebook again.”

Before you make ultimatums to the book (Facebook that is), check out these tried and true products that I and some of the members of the Lafayette Mom team have successfully ordered

Skincare and Makeup

Blume Meltdown Organic Acne Oil

My skin has been giving me the hardest time since age 35. I’ve tried everything-Proactive, Cetaphil, Coconut Oil, prescriptions, rain dances …. nothing seemed to work. The breakouts where plentiful and painful. One night while WTF (Wine Time and Facebook), I came across an add for Blume Meltdown Organic Acne Oil. It was like Facebook was listening to my terrible self talk about my skin and decided to give me a break. I read the comments which all sounded real and realistic. It’s a little more expensive than I typically spend on face care ($26), but when it works, it works. I would have taken a before and after picture, but I never expected it to work! It is a must try if you are struggling with your skin. I saw results in about 3 weeks.

ZitSticka Killa Kit

I’m talking pimple patches people! This combo skin wipe/pimple patch really does deliver on shrinking a pimple overnight. And, it has the most satisfying little micro-darts on the patch that gives you the feeling that something is immediately happening. Though these are also a little pricey ($29.00 for 8 wipes and 8 patches), it’s totally worth it for the overnight shrinking of those pesky zits that pop up around your cycle or anytime!

Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara by Thrive Cosmetics

Tell me that you haven’t received the targeted advertising by Thrive Cosmetics and I’ll call you a liar. Their targeted advertising game is on point and often. I’ve always wanted to try their mascara and according to our contributor Amelia, the mascara is legit. Check out the before and after pictures on their website to be wowed!

Bathing Suits and Bras

Careful, careful with ordering bathing suits and bras that have been advertised to you on Facebook. This is how you end up waiting 3 months for a bathing suit that only fits 1 post-partum breast. Some home runs for our team have been Lime Ricki suits, recommended by Casey and Cupshe suits recommended by nearly all of us. These suits are mom style approved and allow you to comfort chase your munchkin all around the pool without worrying that your business is going to fall out.

On the bra front, Misses Kisses bras, Recommended by Sarah are sure to bring the girls back into their original position in a stylish fashion (and who really doesn’t need a little of that).

Shoes and Clothing

Daybreaks Shoes (specifically the Fame style-rainbow color)

These beauties were recommended by contributor, Rebecca. These sandals say comfort and style, all while celebrating our sweet rainbow babies!

Nice Laundry

What do you get the man in your life who buys everything he wants, leaving little room for gifts? Customizable socks and underwear! Nice laundry is recommended by contributor, Lauren. She notes that the shipping was quick and the quality is unparalleled!

DivvyUp Socks

These were recommended by several contributors and helped solve my question of “what do we get Dad this year for Father’s day?” You can get up to 3 faces screened onto high quality socks (even dog faces)! My dad is impossible to buy for, but even he couldn’t help smiling when he saw the faces of me and my sister on a pair of socks. My only complaint is that they only go up to a men’s size 12, but otherwise would make a great gift for moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles … well, you get the drift. They ship quickly and the design process was simple.

These are a few of our favorite things that we took a chance on, but were pleasantly surprised! What have you found in your Facebook feed that turned out to be a winner?

Leave them in the comments!
