11 Reasons Why We Love Festivals Acadiens

It’s officially here, y’all … festival season! One of the unique aspects of our community is the ability to throw a fantastic party and Festival Acadiens Et Creoles certainly fits the bill. If you’ve never been before, I highly recommend adding it to your Fall activities.

A Taste of Acadiana: One of my favorite aspects of festivals is the food. It is not often that you can try so many local restaurants in one place. It is a great opportunity to taste-test various restaurants located all over Acadiana and eat local all at the same time!

The Music: The weekend is full of really talented musicians that highlight Cajun culture beautifully. If you love to dance, this festival is definitely for you!

Louisiana Craft Fair Makers and Artisans: The craft section of the festival hits it out of the park each year. I always want to purchase a new piece of jewelry or piece of art for my home when I go. It’s fascinating to see what Louisiana makers and artisans create.

Family Friendly: The atmosphere has all ages of people enjoying the festival with one another. No matter the age, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Frontline workers do a great job of keeping health and safety at the forefront of the event.

Embracing Cajun Culture and History: This festival encapsulates the rich culture and history of Acadiana beautifully.

Festival Acadiens Swag: The festival swag is always fun to browse. There are plenty of shirts, bags, posters, and more! The funds go back into making the festival better each year.

Fest TV: In 2020, Festival Acadiens had several bands play through a virtual festival. This was such a mood lifter after a really heavy year. Of course, it was not the same. However, they did a great job of making the best of the situation. Take a listen to get in the mood for all the weekend fun!

Location, location, location! The location of this festival is in Girard Park. This location makes it so much easier than other festivals to navigate a stroller and find a parking spot. If your kids aren’t happy at a festival, no one is happy. Being able to leave when your child is done is a major selling point.

Free Admission: It is rare to find a high-quality festival with free admission! You can’t beat a free community event.

French Mass: They even incorporate mass into the day and it is in French! What a cool experience that you do not get every day.

Watch Local Chefs Make Masterpieces! Local chefs come into cook Cajun cuisine and the onlookers get to try it. It is fascinating to watch those that are really talented at what they do, talk you through the process.
