Blair’s Book Club: Top 10 Books

book club

I have been an avid reader for most of my life. Like many millennials, I blame Harry Potter for my obsession and pray that I can pass it on to my own children. My parents divorced when I was very young, so the six weeks my brother and I spent with our dad in the summers growing up were spent listening to him read aloud every Harry Potter book available in a variation of British accents. It was a magical time before kids had cell phones, access to the internet, and definitely no cable T.V. To this day, I still read dialogue with an accent in my head.

My love for reading has evolved from fiction to self help to religious to business. Here are some of my go-to reads for this year and some top favorites from over the years, in no particular order:

Harry Potter, obvi
The Bible, my playbook for life and this one is on your phone
Her Children Arise, this is a Bible study specifically for moms
Traction, a business book that whipped my small business (and me) into shape
The Big Leap, another business book that has greatly impacted my personal life
Redeeming Love, a love story based on the Hosea & Gomer
The Energy Bus, my go-to quick read to refresh my positive vibes
Grit, if you’re a fan of growth mindset this will be your jam too
Switch on Your Brain, overhaul your mind to move past all kinds of barriers
The Bible in 52 Weeks: A Yearlong Bible Study for Women, books like this are how I practice the discipline of consistency in my everyday life.

Reading makes for better conversation, thoughtfulness, and introspective reflection that pushes me to do and be better. Through my real estate business I send out a monthly email with the latest on what I’m reading, listening to, and watching. I have had so many friends, family, and clients share their favorite reads over the years. What are some of your favorite reads? I am always looking for new books to add to my list!
