Indoor / Outdoor Rugs

Ok — this is one of those things where I feel the need to be upfront and say that there is a really good chance that what I am about to say is NOT revolutionary. But it has been life-changing for me. And maybe one of you had not thought of it or felt like you needed permission. So here goes —

When we moved into our new house, the playroom had tile — like those wooden-looking tile floors. They are GREAT, but hard and not very cozy. I wanted a rug but knew we’d be doing crafts and play dough in the playroom. And well, boys. So I opted for an indoor / outdoor patio rug in our playroom. Not only are most of the indoor / outdoor rugs “weather proof” but most of them are really affordable. We spent less than $200 on the playroom rug and it has been my favorite rug in the house. And believe it or not, but the biggest spill in there has been a full glass of mama’s red wine. I couldn’t even tell you where the spill was — it came right out. And I know that I could take the rug out and hose it off if I needed, too. It would rebound, no doubt.

Playroom Rug

Recently, I replaced our living room rug with an outdoor rug. This is the rug I got as a recommendation from one of my favorite accounts on Instagram — DavisSisterDwellings.

Living Room Rug

I had some reservations about going with an indoor / outdoor in the living room, as I wanted the area to be cozy and inviting. But my kids are constantly snacking in there and it is our most trafficked room aside from the kitchen. It has been such a great decision. We love it. We added a rug pad underneath it to give it a bit of cushion, and it is perfect.

So much so that I just replaced our kitchen runners with indoor / outdoor rugs. They were another suggestion from the DavisSisterDwellings. They add so much color to our kitchen. I love that they do not have much of a pile, so nothing gets trapped in them. They are very easily cleaned. And again, if I want to take them outside and hose them of — so be it.

So there you have it. Add some outdoor to your indoor. Nobody will knowwww!
