My Intentional Year

My Intentional Year

Most people make resolutions and set goals at the beginning of a new year, but very few set goals or make resolutions on their birthdays. Last year I did just that. I made the declaration that when my birthday came around the following year, I would not be in the same condition. Don’t get me wrong, I was not at rock bottom or anything. I just wanted to level up in some areas of my life. I didn’t want to remain stagnant, so I made the decision to become more intentional about myself. I had to fill my cup!

Intentional About My Health

I have always had issues with my weight, but I was determined to get it under control for good. In this past year, I have adopted a healthy lifestyle that has allowed me to shed fifty pounds. While losing weight is great, it is more about what I gained. I gained discipline, confidence, and mental clarity. My workout is a small pocket of my day that is just for me. They are usually in the morning, and they give me all the energy that I need to conquer the day. My new healthy lifestyle also allows me to show my kids the importance of eating healthy and exercising.

Intentional About My Time

My Intentional Year After COVID, my family and I decided that we no longer wanted to live busy lives. No longer booked and busy. I became very intentional with my time and the ways I spent it. More family time. More alone time. I set a goal to complete one book a month, whether it was an audiobook or an actual book. I have not been successful with this goal, but I have read some pretty good books this year, so it is still a win. I have limited my social media time, I no longer scroll social media first thing in the morning or before bed. I have found the joy of listening to podcasts. Most importantly, I have learned to say no to things that I don’t want to do. I have learned to sit still and rest.

Intentional About My Personal Development

It’s been a while since I graduated from college and I don’t have a desire to go back, but I do desire to learn. In this past year, I have expanded my small circle of friends to include some pretty amazing people that serve so many facets of my life. The mom, the wife, the fitness enthusiast, and the career woman. This year I have attended many leadership conferences that have helped me out professionally and personally. I have been intentional about making connections and learning as much as I can to be a well-rounded individual.

The Next Year

My birthday is right around the corner. And my wish for the new year is to continue to build on my accomplishments from this year. I will set new fitness goals. I will read more books. I will definitely continue to learn. And as always, I pray to be a blessing to someone else.
