Fall Outdoor Entertainment for Acadiana

Come on cooler weather! I’m ready to get this family back outside and enjoy everything Acadiana has to offer. If you aren’t aware of the numerous outdoor entertainment in the area, you are certainly missing out! Here’s a quick reference list of several of my favorite free or close to free events that will be keeping us busy this fall.

Bach Lunch

This is a standard for all Lafayette moms! Presented by the Lafayette Science Museum, this free Friday lunch time concert series is held in downtown Lafayette from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The falls schedule normally kicks off med-September. There are bag lunches for sale, however you are allowed to pack a picnic if you’d like. I’d suggest packing a change of clothes just in case your child decides to play in the fountain! More information and a complete schedule can be found at www.lafayettesciencemuseum.org

Rhythms On The River

Kicking off on September 19th with Wayne Toups, you definitely don’t want to miss this free event! Thursday nights in River Ranch are alway a relaxed, fun time. Pack a blanket or chairs for a nice evening out. You can find the full schedule on their Facebook Page.

Lafayette Farmers & Artisian Market

Our favorite Saturday morning activity would be wandering the Lafayette Farmers and Artisan Market at the Horse Farm. I usually bring a few dollars and let the kids wander through the booths to pick out a few of their favorite things. I love that it encourages them to shop local and have a say in what we’re cooking that week. The market also hosts several free events. Check out the schedule at www.marketatmoncuspark.com.

Sugar Jam

Head on over to the pond for a free outdoor concert. Located in Youngsville’s Sugar Mill Pond development is a family favorite the held once a month. A blanket or chair is encouraged and as a pro tip don’t forget the bug spray! Check out their schedule at www.sugarmillpond.com.

Art Walk Lafayette

The 2nd Saturday of every month is one of my personal favorites. Families can enjoy open air market style vendors along with beautiful galleries of art and several food vendors all over downtown Lafayette. Glasswork, textiles, painting and jewelry are just a few of the items you’ll find available for purchase. You can find more details HERE.

Carlie is a divorced mom of five. She moved to Lafayette 22 years ago from a small town in-between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. She has four young adult children from her first marriage that ended after 19 years, Christopher, Cara, Clay and Cade. She has a one year old daughter, Poppy Mae with her significant other, Joey. She is a work-at-home mother who is a freelance writer and photographer/owner of Carlie Anne Collective. Organized chaos and tons of lists are her style. Carlie loves to workout, travel, visit with her friends, bike with Poppy Mae in their neighborhood, attend outdoor concerts, eat out at local restaurants, walk aimlessly through stores looking for good deals and swing in her hammock while chatting about her BST addiction with her online friends. She keeps an active Instagram account as a photo journal of her days.
