Here’s a quick reference list of several of my favorite free or close to free events that will be keeping us busy this fall.

Family outdoor picnic in fall

Bach Lunch

This is a standard for all Lafayette moms and a great outdoor activity with kids in Lafayette! Bagged lunches from local eateries are available starting at 11:15am, with all proceeds supporting the Lafayette Science Museum, this free Friday lunch time concert series is held in downtown Lafayette with music guests performing from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The falls schedule normally kicks off med-September. There are bag lunches for sale, however you are allowed to pack a picnic if you’d like. I’d suggest packing a change of clothes just in case your child decides to play in the splash pad! More information and a complete schedule can be found here!

Rhythms On The River

Kicking off on September 29th with Three Thirty Seven, you definitely don’t want to miss this free event with the kids! Thursday nights in River Ranch are alway a relaxed, fun time. Pack a blanket or chairs for a nice evening out. You can find the full schedule and line-up here.

Lafayette Farmers & Artisan Market

This is one of the best Saturday morning events with kids in Lafayette! Admission is free to the market, but I usually bring a few dollars and let the kids wander through the booths to pick out a few of their favorite things. With the treehouse, playground, and splash pad open it might be worth packing a change of clothes to enjoy all that Moncus Park has to offer.

Moncus Park

Looking for free activities with kids in Lafayette during the week? Moncus park keeps a current calendar that are for families of all ages. Think outdoor events with kids like nature walks, Autumn in the Oaks, and Food Truck Fridays. You can’t beat the variety that Moncus park provides for free outdoor activities with kids in Lafayette!

The Mercredi Show

Need more free activities with kids in Lafayette during the week? Just a few minutes north of town, in Carencro, enjoy this free concert series every Wednesday! Pelican Park hosts The Mercredi Show from 6pm -8:30pm each week starting September 14th with Chris Breaux and the Six String Rodeo.

Sugar Jam

Head on over to the pond for a free outdoor concert with the kids. Located in Youngsville’s Sugar Mill Pond development is a family favorite that is held once a month. A blanket or chair is encouraged and as a pro tip don’t forget the bug spray! See the monthly schedule here

Art Walk Lafayette

The 2nd Saturday of every month is one of my personal favorites. Families can enjoy open air market style vendors along with beautiful galleries of art and several food vendors all over downtown Lafayette. Glasswork, textiles, painting and jewelry are just a few of the items you’ll find available for purchase. You can find more details HERE.

Fall Festivals

There are many fall festivals fun for the entire family! Think festivals to celebrate Latin music, Gulf Brew, boudin cook-off, Blackpot, Festival Acadiens, a boat parade and more. You can find a festival calendar for every season here.
