Last Minute Stocking Stuffer Ideas for the Kiddos

If you are like me, you have the main Christmas shopping done. The lists have been checked, wrapping has begun taking over the spare room, and your bank account has lost as much weight as you have put on in holiday pounds.

But what about the stockings hung by the chimney with care? Until now, they have only served as festive decorations, adding holiday cheer to your winter wonderland or even a possible hiding spot for your kids’ elf on the shelf.

Here are a few last-minute ideas to fill those empty stockings. You can find many of these at Walmart, Aldi, or the Dollar Store, so you don’t have to play Russian Roulette with the post office.

For girls:

  • Nail polish: I have a 2.5-year-old, and she recently discovered nail polish. This pack of non-toxic polish was a no-brainer. (And she loves Minnie, so double points!)
  • Costume jewelry: No matter what age, jewelry is always a safe choice. Stackable plastic bracelets for toddlers or a nice pair of studs for your teens are great stocking fillers.
  • Hair accessories: All girls need a re-up on ponytail holders, bobby pins, bows and headbands. Last Minute Stocking Stuffer Ideas For The Kiddos
  • Chapstick: Start the new year with a new supply of chapsticks to place strategically in bedrooms, bathrooms, and backpacks.
  • Makeup: Grab a viral makeup trend for the older girls or play makeup for the littles.
  • Throw in some bath bombs, bubble bath, lotion, and body wash for all the good smells.

For the boys:

  • Match cars: You can find these in the toy aisle at the dollar. Scoop up a few of them and your toddler will be in car heaven on Christmas Day.
  • Trading cards: For the older boy, trading cards like Pokemon, baseball, comic book characters will make him the coolest kid when he returns to school.
  • Dino Egg Excavation Kit: My four-year-old son loves chiseling away at these dino eggs to find out which dino will be inside.
  • Squishies: My son also loves these tiny squishy toys. They get dirty pretty quickly, but they become his weekly companion whenever he gets one of these.
  • Areaware Cubebot Micro: My kid loves anything small. This will be a nice addition to his collection of “things Mom steps on daily.”
  • A Yo-Yo: Why not teach them a new party trick? A yo-yo is an old-school toy that will keep them busy for hours (ok, maybe really long minutes).
  • Silly Putty, slime, whoopie cushions or anything that makes a fart noise.

For kids age 1 to 92:

  • Flashcards: Site words, math problems, state capitals. Whatever your child is learning, there is likely a flash card to go with it.
  • Play-Doh or clay: Fill the art bin with fresh Play-Doh or introduce modeling clay, as it doesn’t dry out.
  • Colors, markers, pencils: I’m sure your kid is overdue for some whole crayons and markers that aren’t dried up.
  • Socks and undies: Get the kids some new undergarments. You do their laundry. You know they need them.
  • Stock up on stickers, bubbles, and sidewalk chalk to help fill up the long days of Christmas break.
