Appreciate Your Child’s Teacher For “Craft Time” Creativity!

I have been a parent volunteer for the past two years at my daughter’s school, beginning with Pre-K and now in her kindergarten year. Over these two years, I have observed and been a part of helping teachers put their creativity into play. It is such a rewarding part of my journey of being a parent.

My main volunteer gig is the snack cart each month where the students get to purchase a snack with their Lion Bucks that they have earned throughout the month. It is so rewarding to watch these little amazing students get so excited and use their well-deserved and earned bucks to get a cool snack to enjoy.

As I walk up and down each hall, I am in utter amazement at how each teacher creates and decorates their hall and their classroom.

I myself am not so much a crafty mom, but I do always give it my best shot. However, I am in awe of each of these teachers who put so much of themselves, their personality, and their creativity into making an environment that is safe, fun, and exciting to learn.

I also do a lot of copying, cutting, gluing, and helping the teachers prepare the craft that the students will make or use to learn.

One craft in particular that I helped a Kindergarten teacher with was making little bumble bees on popsicle sticks. I had the joy of gluing the bees onto the stick. Then I crushed up different colors of fruit loops. The crushed cereal was going to represent the pollen and the children would use the bees to learn about how pollination works. It was cool and it is something I wouldn’t have thought to do! In turn, it gave me such an appreciation for all the time and thought that each teacher puts into her craft her students. The joy that it gives each child is such an amazing experience for this momma to be a part of.

Appreciate Your Child's Teacher For "Craft Time" Creativity!I am the mom who saves all of my daughter’s papers, artwork, and crafts, especially the ones that are made especially for me. I could not imagine throwing it away as if it meant nothing to me. I show my daughter how much I appreciate and love her creating these pictures and cards for me and her daddy. I have even gotten a bin that is especially for her stuff so that one day we will look back down memory lane. She will know now and then that she is loved. She is appreciated as well.

As far as her teachers and the others that I help to put their hard work into reality, I just want to say Thank You!!!

Thank you for your creativity! Thank you for your time! Thank you for all that you do that’s “extra,” that you aren’t getting paid for, yet you put your everything into it to make it an awesome learning experience for our children. For this momma, you have given me an insight of all you do. I am grateful and in our home, we have a special place for all your time and efforts – and it’s not the trash. Our bin is called “The Love Box.”

It will be a memory and appreciation, not just for our daughter and all her beautiful accomplishments, but also for the teacher that made it possible.
