Book Recommendation :: The Testaments By Margaret Atwood
I’m sure you’ve watched “The Handmaid’s Tale” by now, right? Well, I also read the book, and I have to admit, it evoked such strong emotions in me. While there were parts I hated, there were also aspects I couldn’t help but love.
As parents, our love for our kids knows no bounds. We are willing to go to great lengths to ensure their safety and well-being. We are ready to make sacrifices and face tough choices if it means giving them a better life and a brighter future. Parenthood is a journey of unconditional love and selflessness, and we embrace it wholeheartedly for the sake of our kids. This is exactly how June is portrayed. She goes to extraordinary lengths to protect her children all the while facing immense challenges.
Since finishing the book and reaching the show’s ending, I’ve been dying to know what happens next! We got some backstory on June and the others, but there’s so much more I want to uncover. I can’t help but wonder why Aunt Lydia is the way she is, and Agnes and Baby Nicole have been on my mind too. And let’s not forget about June, May Day, and the fate of the awful country of Gilead! It’s like an itch I couldn’t scratch until I find out!
It seems that I was not the only one asking for an ending. Atwood had thousands of people asking these same things. This book, The Testaments came 34 years after Margaret Atwood wrote The Handmaid’s Tale and it didn’t disappoint. I won’t spoil it for you if you haven’t read it yet but I will tell you that you probably won’t be disappointed either.
Now, we just have to get them to make it into a series or movie! But not before the Hollywood execs agree to fair wages for all writers and actors! Because we are all about inclusivity and fairness — this isn’t Gilead after all!
