Worth The Drive :: St. Rose Flower Farm in St. Martinville, LA

A coworker recently told me about a hidden gem in St. Martinville, Louisiana called St. Rose Flower Farm. She explained that at the flower farm, anyone could go by any time during the weekend, and there is a “U-Pick” option where you can cut your own flowers to bring home! The farm also provides all necessary supplies, including garden clippers, flower food, and small mason jars or large buckets to store your cut flowers!

I was so intrigued by this idea and thought my oldest daughter would especially love the experience of cutting her own flowers! I looked up St. Rose Flower Farm in St. Martinville and discovered it was only 20 minutes from my home. I decided to take my daughters to visit the flower farm that weekend!

Here are some tips and directions for spending an hour or two at the charming St. Rose Flower Farm!

First, check in at the farm stand

When you arrive, park in the free gravel parking. Make your way into the farm and head to the prep stand! Here you will find all the supplies you need and clear directions on navigating the farm.

Next, choose and prep your container

There are two container options– a mason jar for $20 or a large black bucket for $45! Pour in a packet of the provided flower food, then fill your container with water. Water spickets are located at the far left end of the farm!

You are ready to cut your flowers!

Now you are ready to begin perusing the flower farm to find the perfect flowers to cut and bring home! Use the provided garden shears from the prep-stand. The farm directions state to cut single stems, leaving some room at the bottom for stems and leaves. Do not uproot the plant!

Hang out under the hoop house

There is a designated hoop house on the right side of the farm with picnic tables. Here, you can spend time relaxing, arranging your flowers, and visiting the baby ducks and rabbits hanging out in pens nearby!

Don’t forget to pay and return the clippers!

On your way out, return your garden clippers, and do not forget to pay! There is a cash slot and Venmo option to support the local farmers at St. Rose Flower Farm!

Check out St. Rose’s website for more information about photography at the farm, purchasing options beyond “U-Pick”, and hours/months of operation!

St. Rose Flower Farm is the perfect spring activity for the entire family. My 4-year-old daughter LOVED everything about visiting the flower farm, from pouring the flower food into her special mason jar, cutting her own flowers, and finally visiting the baby animals. My 1.5-year-old daughter had a great time running around the farm, observing beautiful flowers, and spending time in nature!

We will definitely be back to visit this charming flower farm in St. Martinville, Louisiana!
