Web Calls: The New Norm

What have web-based conferencing services done for you?

Connected you with clients, coworkers, family, and friends?
Has it given you a much welcomed moment of silence from the real world?

In a world where the perfect filtered selfie, most Instagram followers, and most engaging Facebook are considered life goals, a pandemic has brought everyone back to the basics.

If you’re like me you are involved in at least one meeting or group chat a week. While we are struggling to get our heads together enough to get our kids fed and get pants on external appearances, in general, seem to have gone by the wayside. I have shown up to web coffee chats with no makeup, workout pants, sweaty from yard work, and none of it mattered because everyone else is in the same boat.

It sounds bad, but I am delighted.

I see real people in their real lives removing the haze of perfection, and greatness is what we are getting!

We find common struggles with our fellow moms and accept and offer advice on how to rise above. We are not judging people’s looks or their following but offering sympathies and our whole hearts. We are kind, we are understanding, and we are strong. Together.

I can’t say that when this is all over that people will carry on with showing the real down and dirty of their lives but I can hope that through this we realized that there are more to people than meets the eye.

Perfection is not reality and that is ok!
