Tradition has it that every new year people make resolutions for a bright new beginning–out with the old, in with the new. I have never really been a new year’s resolution partaker, yet for this upcoming 2023 it seems fitting that I indeed will, and for many solid and important reasons.
First and foremost I am definitely looking into my health as well as the health of my family–myself, my 4-year-old, and my husband. The three of us will be going into 2023 with diet and lifestyle changes. I have already begun some small tweaks here and there, and now I want to implement them fully for both myself and my family.
As a Christian, I am also going to seek the Lord more abundantly. I will be putting God first in, not some, but ALL that I do and say. I will selectively choose the people, places, and things that we will allow in our lives. I am no longer interested in being a part of people’s lives that seem to just keep you around when they need you. I will seek God for his direction on who, what, when, where, and how. This is important to me because I have a very smart, intuitive child, and I am her role model. It is my job to teach her the love of Christ and teach her to be in the world, yet not of the world.
We as humans are definitely a product of our environment based on whom we choose to be around, places we choose to go, and things we choose to listen to via music, television, and the internet. All of these changes are extremely important. Just as we will make dietary changes from the food we consume to nourish our bodies is exactly the changes we will make to feed our bodies spiritually. Making these changes will not just be a New Year fad but it will be a decision that will be lifelong and will make an impact on our eternity.
As a Mom, and wife it is my job to guide my family in the right direction, to love them, and to protect them like the Mama bear that GOD has designed me to be. In this new year of 2023 that is and will be going to be me!!
