Aldi is Coming to New Iberia May 5!

Aldi is opening its second location in the Lafayette area in New Iberia on May 5th at 9am! It will be located at 1102 E. Admiral Doyle Dr.  The store will host a ribbon cutting ceremony prior to opening and will be giving away a $500 gift card to a lucky shopper.

The New Iberia location sits at a popular intersection near a Rouses, Super 1 Foods and Walmart. With so much competition sitting in one intersection, the shoppers in New Iberia will surely find anything they’re looking for without having to travel far. Aldi is known for being a low cost grocery store and does so by carrying 90% of their own private label companies. Aldi also carries lots of seasonal items ranging from rotating the pasta and cheese and features foods from around the world.

And here is our fellow New Orleans Mom’s opinions on Aldi and what she’s looking forward to later this year in Aldi is Coming in 2022 – Welcome to New Orleans, Aldi!

While I’ve shopped at the Ambassador location several times, here are some of my favorite products to buy:

Cheese:

With such a large variety at low prices, it’s been lots of fun rotating the weekly cheese. From fresh mozzarella, brie, smoked gouda and even a fondue kit.

Dips:

Right next to the cheese and meat selections are the various dips. The typical fresh salsa and guacamole reside here. But they also have tzatziki and a huge hummus selection. They have the original hummus flavor, pine nut, red pepper, seriously spicy (my favorite), cilantro lime, and garlic.

Chocolate:

Lots of the chocolate found in the stores originates from Germany. Milk chocolate, hazelnut chocolate bars, Haribo (ok, a gummy bear, not chocolate) and Knoppers are some of my favorites.

A tip is that the store ad comes out on Wednesday each week which is when the store is usually well stocked. Waiting until Tuesday to shop may mean that they have run out of some of their sale items for the week.

With plans to become the third largest grocer by the end of 2022, Aldi is expanding rapidly. The Lafayette area will open one more location at 3210 Louisiana Avenue which is expected to open late summer. Baton Rouge and New Orleans are also expected to open stores later this year.

Wherever you find yourself shopping at Aldi, don’t forget your quarter to borrow a shopping cart and reusable bag to load your groceries!
