Biloxi on a Budget :: Beach Vacay

Biloxi on a Budget :: Beach Vacay

Every year we love to do a Destination Birthday for our daughter. We get to spend her actual birthday with her, and our favorite is a beach trip. We have gone to Perdido Key for the 4th birthday, Galveston Beach for the 5th, and now this past April, we went to Biloxi, Mississippi Beach. We stayed at a Wyndham Worldwide Property called Days Inn. I personally worked for Wyndham Worldwide at a Super 8 as a front desk manager for 7 years prior to having my daughter. I am usually geared more towards an upscale property but we needed something that was close to Lafayette and somewhat inexpensive this year as time and finances weren’t on our side this birthday season.

However to my greatest surprise this property, which was located right across the street from the beach, was a pleasant inexpensive surprise.

Though an older property, it was very well maintained and the staff was excellent. They made our daughter turning 6 at their property a very exciting experience. They had continental breakfast each morning and seating outside so that you could enjoy a warm cup of coffee and get a nice view of the ocean. The swimming pool was quaint and very well maintained. While our daughter swam, I was able to catch some rays all while facing the ocean.

The other perk was the famous Shaggy’s Restaurant which is directly right across the street. This is where we had our birthday lunch celebration for our 6 year old little BiG girl. This also was a pleasant surprise as the staff gave our girl the royal treatment as we sat and enjoyed our birthday lunch with the sounds of the waves hitting against the shore. They also have a Waffle House next to Shaggys and a few other places all within walking distance. We were able to leave our vehicle safely parked at the hotel and enjoy our time immensely without any worries.

The other exciting adventure we were able to enjoy was a trip the next day to the Mississippi Aquarium which is located a short drive down the shore to Gulfport Mississippi.

We also had a planned day trip to Ship Island where we were to take the boat to spend the day on the island yet the red flags were out and the captain regrettably had to cancel all due to safety precautions. However, that didn’t damper our getaway and in fact it gives us a even more reason to return. The Aquarium was extremely well maintained and very much fun and exciting. Parts of it were outside and other parts were inside. The dolphins are always a favorite of ours.

Being a mom that is always looking for a great deal and at the same time giving my family the best experience possible I would totally recommend Biloxi and The Days Inn! Though it doesn’t have the pristine waters and it wasn’t a luxury high rise right on the beach, it was a wonderful memory for the sweetest 6 year old that deserves the best of the best.

Some time, the best of the best is a budget friendly adventure that she and her parents will treasure for a lifetime.
