A Very Jonas Christmas :: Movie Review

A Very Jonas Christmas :: Movie Review

A Very Jonas Christmas :: Movie ReviewDuring the holiday season, my favorite movies to watch when my kids go to sleep are light-hearted Christmas movies. I’m not a Jonas Brothers super fan by any means, but I have liked their music and personas over the years, and I was sure that their movie A Very Jonas Christmas would meet my light-hearted and Christmas-vibe needs, so I gave the movie a whirl!

Here’s what I liked about the movie!

Coming home for Christmas storyline

The Jonas Brothers took the classic “coming home for Christmas” narrative, kept in comedic hurdles that kept them from getting home, and added in musical numbers, their own personal family dynamics, and perfect cameos (like Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Santa Claus).

Jonas Brothers Christmas Music

The brothers recorded new Christmas music for the movie, and their performances in the musical sequences fit the movie perfectly. The soundtrack is perfect for playing in the background during Christmas time. My kids and I have been listening to it in the car!

Heartfelt Moments

I enjoyed how the brothers incorporated their true family and brother dynamics into the movie. The viewers got a realistic look at what it’s like to work and travel with your family over long periods of time, and how that affects the relationship.

The brothers gather in a huddle at an important moment in the film, and whisper together, “Every feeling matters, every moment matters, every brother matters.” This moment warmed my heart, and it felt like the movie’s themes about family bonds and family importance came full circle.

Again, I’m not a Jonas Brothers super fan, so I don’t know the ins and outs of each brother’s role in the band over the years. {Spoiler Alert} However, I did cry when they let Kevin sing a lead part in the best Christmas song. 😭

Overall, I loved the movie! It’s perfect for Christmas, and I think both kids, teenagers, and adults would enjoy watching it together!
