Day Trips to Take From Lafayette, Louisiana

Knock Knock Museum :: Just a short drive to Baton Rouge, but you’ll need a full day to play!

Palmetto Island State Park :: The splash pad is hard to beat here! We all know the hot days don’t end just because the season technically changes, so head out to a state park!

Tabasco Factory :: Avery Island always makes our day trip lists, but going in the Fall keeps you cool and coming back for more.

Houston Zoo :: Personally, I have done the behind the scenes tour of the Houston Zoo and highly recommend it! I don’t know in what capacity they do the tours now but either way the Zoo is always a good time.

Shreveport Aquarium :: On our road trips to Dallas we make our pitstop at the aquarium. This is one of the most interactive visits especially for kids age 10 and under. Feed the stingrays and then let the shrimp clean your hands.

Bay St. Louis, MS :: Walk the farmer’s market, stroll main street, take in the quiet beaches, and enjoy a brew. This is our go-to weekend get away thanks to the short drive and great stay!

Take the Kids to Broussard!

Zoosiana :: Want to keep it close to home but still go on a wild adventure? Take a tour and train ride at our local zoo in Broussard.

Rage Room :: Need to let the kids burn some energy? Head over to the Rage Room for axe throwing, crashing construction, and splatter paint activities.

Cajun Food Tours :: Don’t want to cook dinner? Book a food tour and keep everyone happy!

Elevation Station :: Jump around with the entire family for the day or afternoon! Easy fun and everyone approved.

Weekend trips to take from Lafayette, La

DeGray Lake State Park, AR :: Take it from me, don’t bring a 14 month old tent camping. Do go stay in a cabin here with kids of any age and have a blast!

Austin, TX :: Music, fun, food, festivals. Think Lafayette but bigger, because it’s in Texas. Don’t miss out on Salt Lick, thank me later.

Helen, GA :: For the true road warriors at almost a 10 hour drive from Lafayette, but well worth the trip this fall to their Oktoberfest

Memphis, TN :: Home of the annual St Jude Marathon (5k and half marathon options also available). Take in the National Civil Rights Museum, Graceland, and eat some soul food while you’re there.

San Antonio, TX ::  Culture, history, food, the river walk, just at the other end of I-10 is a beautiful city worth the drive and filled with fun for all interests.

Houston, TX :: The Color Factory has drawn a big crowd of late, and for good reason. The color is immersive and interactive! Many more attractions are found here
