Scratch Farm Kitchen :: My Favorite Local Restaurant

I visited Scratch Farm Kitchen for the first time this past July when one of my friends suggested we go for brunch. As a long time vegetarian, I truthfully don’t venture out into the restaurant world much. But I was so pleasantly surprised by Scratch Farm Kitchen! From the atmosphere to the food, it was a great experience and I’ve since gone back multiple times! Located on 2918 Johnston Street Lafayette, LA 70503 – this restaurant needs to be on your must visit list!

The Food

Scratch Farm Kitchen prides itself on being a farm to table restaurant, supporting local growers and in season fruits/vegetables. Their menu has options for gluten-free, vegetarian and even vegan options. I love the ease of switching what would be a meat entree for a veggie option. Everything I have gotten has always been beautifully plated and very picturesque. My favorite is the veggie burger. While I don’t typically love ginger, I really enjoyed the ginger slaw and lightly pickled cucumbers. I’ve also gotten the boudini (typically served with boudin but I switched to a veggie option) served with kimchi. The hibiscus tea is also delicious!

The Atmosphere

I love that the interior of the restaurant has tables and chairs of different style varieties – from a larger group or just a party of 2 there is table to fit your party size. There is also a bar equipped with outlets for those who need space to get some work done. The art hung from the ceiling adds nice touches of color and light. On my most recent visit at the end of September, I noticed that several of the salt and pepper shakers were also Halloween themed. I’m honestly very excited to see if they will be updated for the Christmas holidays as well.

Dine in or Take out

While most of my visits have been dining in, I NEEDED my husband to try this veggie burger. So I gave them a call, placed my order and picked up in store. The burger was ready in a take out box and we got to enjoy a closer to his work lunch date.
