Why a Couples Boudoir Photoshoot Was the Best Unexpected Date Idea
Before going out of town for a few weeks, my husband casually mentioned that he’d love some photos of me. I started searching for boudoir photographers, but I was honestly surprised by the cost and nearly talked myself out of the idea altogether, until I stumbled upon Evermore Stories. I reached out right away, even though the timing meant we wouldn’t be able to schedule the shoot until after our trip.
During our initial conversation, she asked a simple question that completely changed the direction of the experience:
Will this be an individual shoot, or a couples session?
I hadn’t even considered a couples boudoir shoot. I asked my husband — fully expecting him to say no. To my surprise, he immediately agreed.
Next came lingerie shopping, which felt slightly intimidating since I don’t normally wear lingerie. I went to pinterest for some inspiration on matching or coordinated lingerie then I headed to La Femme, where I thankfully found something that felt both sexy and comfortable — an important balance for me. Feeling confident in what I was wearing made a huge difference going into the boudoir photoshoot.

The session itself took place at the photographer’s home, where she had a room thoughtfully set up specifically for boudoir photography. Once we changed, she guided us through every pose — telling me when to arch my back, or prompting my husband to adjust his hands. There was no guesswork or awkward uncertainty. There were multiple couches, daybeds, and more to change the scenery and poses. About 20 minutes later, we had completed a shoot that was incredibly steamy, surprisingly fun, and honestly felt like an unexpected day date. It was an experience I never would have thought of when brainstorming date ideas, but one I’d absolutely recommend.
A few weeks later, we received our online gallery. Our package included 20 prints, but for an additional $100, we could purchase the full gallery. With so many incredible images to choose from, it was an easy decision to get them all.
If you’re considering a couples boudoir shoot, here are a few tips I learned along the way:
- make sure your fingernails and feet look good — they’ll likely be in the photos.
- Lean into the experience right away. Yes, it’s a little awkward at first to passionately kiss your husband with a photographer in the room, but the faster you commit, the better (and steamier) the results.
- Review inspiration photos beforehand if there are specific poses you’d like to try, and remember that outfit changes count toward your session time.
- Review a few photographers. Some included wardrobe choices or hair and makeup. Others required you to do this yourself. Also editing styles vary greatly so pick something that fits your preference. We loved our experience with Evermore Stories, ad felt that getting our own lingerie and makeup helped us feel more comfortable and confident!
