Lazy Rivers Within a 3 Hour Drive of Lafayette
Summer is here and it is HOT! There are lots of things to do with kids in and around Lafayette. Still, it’s basically a necessity to be near water during these summer months. Thankfully, Lafayette has lots of splash pads and even pools around town to help cool off. Several also offer swim lessons. But sometimes a little extra variety is nice.
Here is a list of lazy rivers within a 3 hour drive of Lafayette!
Red Lerille’s Health & Racquet Club – in Lafayette!
Red’s is a membership based club; however, you can also visit as a guest (paying a guest fee) a few times a year. The pool features a lazy river, pool slide and a splash pad.
Isle of Iberia – 25 miles (40 minutes)
Isle of Iberia has public swim which gains you access to the lazy river without an RV. Public swim passes ($10 per person) are limited by day and time so prior planning is essential. The pools are also closed on Mondays for maintenance.
Coushatta Resort in Kinder – 75 miles (1.5 hours)
Coushatta Resort in Kinder is known for the Dream Pool and lazy river. Guests staying in select rooms are able to access the pool. The pool features a swim up bar, lazy river, slides and a splash pad for the kids. You can find all the details here!
Spar Waterpark in Sulphur – 90 miles (1.5 hours)
Spar Waterpark is open to residents and non-residents for a fee of $20 per person (2 and under are free). With multiple swimming areas, guests can choose between the lazy river, pool slides, or toddler friendly pools with water 1 foot deep.
Aqau Pards in Denham Springs- 85 miles (2 hours)
Aqua Pards in Denham Springs is open to non-residents for a fee of $10 per person. They do also have discount days on Monday and Tuesday for $8 per person. Inflatable tubes are provided and no swimming is allowed in the lazy river, so no need to be concerned about floating over a child under water!
Liberty Lagoon in Baton Rouge – 70 miles (1.5 hours)
Liberty Lagoon in Baton Rouge has both day passes ($12 per person, 1 and under free) and season tickets available for purchase. The hours vary by day so be sure to plan your visit in advance. The lazy river sits in the middle of the water park which is perfect for keeping an eye on kids on water slides.
Cool Zoo in New Orleans – 155 miles (3 hours)
Cool Zoo tickets will include Zoo admission beginning In early June! This water park is unique in that it is adjacent to the zoo. The lazy river is 3 feet deep and takes approximately 7 minutes to complete a round. This is the perfect blend of parent relaxation and kid friendly fun. Here are tips for your trip!
L’auberge in Lake Charles – 80 miles (1.5 hours)
L’auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles has a large lazy river with a swim up bar! It also has features a family pool and adults only pool. The pool is reserved for guests only which only makes this accessible through a weekend trip.
Gator Grounds RV Resort – 70 miles (1.5 hours)
The caveat to Gator Grounds is that it is an RV resort and they are not open to the public. However, if you have an RV, this is a great option! With indoor and outdoor pools, slides and a lazy river, there is something for everyone!
Sun Outdoors – 115 miles (2.5 hours)
Again another RV Resort, but if that is an option for you, Sun Outdoors provides campers with the opportunity to float down the lazy river, even making a stop at the Tiki Bar!
Wonder Oasis Waterpark in Shreveport – 225 miles (3 hours)
Bogue Chitto Tubing in Bogalousa – 170 miles (2.75 hours)
Camp Margaritaville – 25 miles (30 minutes)
Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo – 230 miles (4 hours)
Alright, alright – this is more than 3 hours. But because it’s worth the drive, we’ve included Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo. This can even make it a weekend trip! It’s got a massive waterpark structure with lots of slides and a great lazy river!
