If you only visit Downtown Lafayette for Festival International or events at the ACA, I bet you didn’t realize there’s quite a lot going on. And by a lot, I mean, a lot of awesome things happening to revitalize Downtown Lafayette.
Let’s start with restaurants. It’s really hard to keep up, but I’ll start at the old Filling Station. Now occupied by Spoonbill, the corner spot with everyone’s favorite Friday patio is back in action. Their burger has been praised as possibly one of the best in town!
Pop’s PoBoys (hello best fried okra), then stroll on down to Luna Bar & Grill (need to wash down said okra).
Then you’ll stumble upon Pamplona Tapas Bar. Please pause while we enjoy the world’s most delicious beet salad. And speaking of drinks to wash down your food, Pamplona’s cocktail menu is ah-mazing!
Looking for a little more intimate dinning? Check out Vestal, for a true dining experience like none other! An ever changing seasonal menu, impeccable cocktails, and open kitchen… you can’t lose with this choice.
We’ve got Central Pizza and Bar, and our all time favorite staples: Tsunami, Agave, Dwyer’s Cafe and La Carreta. At the end of Jefferson Street, you’ll find Reve Coffee Roasters (if you’re tired from all the fun you’re having) for a little pick me up! Maybe a sweet treat is more your speed. We can’t forget to include Borden’s Ice Cream Shoppe, the last retail retail location right here in Downtown Lafayette!
On the subject of sweets, please welcome the newest kid on the block, Sunday’s Soda Fountain! Here you’ll find a modern take on some truly nostalgic treats. Soups, salads, sandwiches, ice cream, sodas and cocktails!
Whew! That’s a lot. And I may have even skipped one or two on accident. Guys, that’s JUST food.
When you add in events, festivals, arts, culture and music, you’ve got one of the best dates in town.
Art Walk, Bach Lunch, Downtown Rising, live music at The Pearl, Movies in the Parc, Downtown Alive … I’m tired.

Visit Downtown. Take an Uber; make it a date. We love heading Downtown without a plan, and popping in at different places. Our son is 7, and he’s probably been to half, if not more, places on this list.
Everyone is friendly, the atmosphere is safe and there’s always something fun to do. What’s your favorite downtown destination or event?
