A Letter to My Boys :: A Father’s Perspective
Dear Mason and Kayson:
As long as I can remember, I’ve always wished to have kids. I would read parenting books, watch movies and TV shows, and mimic so much that I would see. But no matter how many books or TV shows I have watched – neither of them came with a scripted parent manual, they came with noise, mess, love, and about 2,000 episodes of Mrs. Rachel and Paw Patrol. I had ideas like teaching you guys how to ride bikes, build pillow forts and doing science experiments and physics or even sharing my love for Real Estate. The day you both came into my life, it changed forever. It was like a breath of fresh air! That night I sat down and I thought to myself what am I going to do with twins boys — how am I going to raise them to be exceptional young men?
As I thought back to all the love and guidance that I received from my mom growing up, that’s when it hit me! I would create my own family manual that’s full of love, laughs and protection.
Kayson, you are spontaneous, strong and adventurous. Don’t allow anyone to stop you from being you. One day, you will change the world and become great leader, helping many people.
Mason, you are smart, caring and full of life. Keep going and never stop. You will become an amazing professional and change the world.
You both have a light that shines bright like sun, and that light will shine brighter the older and wiser you get.
You both have smiles that will light up rooms!
Your names will be mentioned in rooms that your feet haven’t entered yet!
Your laughter is like birds singing when the sun rises in the morning.
I love you both with my whole heart.
I thank God every day for blessing me with two amazing sons!
Being a father of twins boys means double the joy. That means double the laughter, double the chaos, and double the Paw Patrol! It brings me so much joy to witness my boys totally immersed in something they love.
People often say kids grow up fast — and they are right. One day you will outgrow the toys, the cartoons, and the Paw Patrol phase. But for now, I’m going to soak up every laugh, every toy store visit, every bedtime story, and every Paw Patrol mission!
Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome fathers!
