New Experiences :: A Universal Adventure
First-timers here – ready to experience Universal Studios Orlando!
An invitation for the junior high band to join the high school band at Universal Studios for a recording session for the upcoming Lorax film came as an unexpected but exciting opportunity for our little one. The trip wasn’t on our radar, but after meetings, planning, and discussions, we were booked and ready – especially with the timing falling during Mardi Gras break.
The Report Day
Bags packed, instrument in hand, rules given, and the buses ready – it was go time. This was our first school-related trip on a charter bus, and the Hotard drivers kept everyone safe through the night. With a couple of quick stops along the way, they got us there and back without a hitch. Huge shoutout to the drivers and the dedicated band directors who made this experience possible for the junior high students.

Day One Arrival
Excitement filled the air as we pulled into Universal Studios. As soon as those gates opened, the kids were off and ready to hit the rides and soak in every moment. This day consisted of fun at the park and ended with a beautiful Cirque Du Soleil show of Disney’s Drawn to Life.
It was our first time at Universal, and we are still scratching our heads wondering why we’ve waited so long. The two parks (soon to be three this year!) offered a mix of thrilling rides and immersive attractions. Our adventurous little one wasted no time jumping on roller coasters with her friends and even convinced Dad to join in on a few. Mom happily stayed on the sidelines, capturing every smile, scream, and unforgettable memory through pictures and videos.
Ever since her first roller coaster ride at Disney, we knew she was ready for more and Universal didn’t disappoint. The thrill of the coasters and 3D rides lived up to every expectation according to her reactions and explanations of how she felt after each ride. Revenge of the Mummy, Doctor Dooms’s Fear Fall, Harry Potter’s Hogsmeade, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, and her favorite, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit were just a few of the rides they rode within their three days at the parks. They absolutely had a time.
Day Two & Three

Mardi Gras is a huge celebration in the South, and Universal Studios 30th Mardi Gras celebration was nothing short of impressive. The floats were stunning, a clear nod to our down-south traditions and culture. The only thing missing? Bigger beads and throws!
The food, drinks, sweet treats, cleanliness, entertainment, and of course the rides stole the show. Universal went all out, and we soaked up every minute of it.
A Proud Moment
Departure day brought the highlight of the trip: the band’s performance. Seeing photos of our daughter be a part of something so special filled our hearts with pride. Contributing to the music of a film is an accomplishment she can carry with her forever.

Dressed in matching orange Lorax shirts, the students gathered in the recording studio area at Universal Studios, representing their school with pride. Some created sound effects for the film, while the entire group came together to create something truly inspiring.
As parents, we couldn’t be more thankful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Huge congratulations to every band student for their hard work and dedication. This trip was more than just rides and parades, it was a celebration of teamwork, talent, and unforgettable memories! So proud of them all!
