Pack Light :: The Lunch Edition

Lunch Loading……

Diagonal or down the center? Crust on or off? “Ruffles” with ridges or plain “Lays?” Green apple or red? In the 80s, those were our moms’ hardest decisions when packing lunch. I never got that “My Little Pony Lunchbox!” Instead, I was sent to school with a brown paper bag containing small plastic bags of cheap chips, a sandwich (diagonal, of course), a green apple only, and a little hug juice — not to be confused with the popular kids who got “Hi-C Juice Boxes” and found Keebler cookies to sweeten the deal. Lunch has always been a time to enjoy, whether you bought all the cool new snacks or had the most money to buy lunch plus an extra juice. School lunch is an exciting experience when it comes to your child’s school day.

Lunch Done Right

What you pack for lunch is important. Eating healthy, well-balanced lunch aids in improving students’ focus and learning ability. The foods they eat fuel the brain, helping them stay alert, listen, and pay attention in class. If children learn to eat healthy at a young age, it will reduce their risk of health issues while supporting their brain development and growing bodies. Bringing lunch to school can be more cost-effective and allows parents to have control over what their children are eating, including avoiding food sensitivity and allergy restrictions.

A week worth of lunchIt’s In The Bag

There are so many options out there when it comes to bringing lunch to school that it’s easy to get confused.

• The lunch bag with ice packs can maintain the freshness of food. It prevents spillage, and they are cute yet convenient for long school days.

•The Bento Box makes lunch look cool and draws children in by encouraging them to eat all the healthy foods in each little compartment. Bento Boxes keep food separated and are great for children with food sensitivity issues including not wanting foods touching.

•The thermos is great for transporting foods such as mac and cheese, soups, noodles and hearty dishes that need to be kept warm.

A Sweet Treat

Including a sweet note to encourage your Cub is sure to get them through the day until it’s time to return to Mama Bear.
