A Confident Child is a Happy One: Four Ways Music Lessons Develop Confidence in Children

A Confident Child is a Happy One: Four Ways Music Lessons Develop Confidence in Children Every parent wants their child to live in confidence and happiness. Outside of our tremendous efforts at home, where else can this skill and experience of life be nurtured? To build confidence, children need opportunities to persevere. The impact is even larger when a mentor supports them through the growth of that perseverance. Children desire opportunities to explore uninhibited creative expression, which in turn grows happiness and joy in their lives. Music lessons at The Music Box have been developing the foundation of these skills in children for nearly a decade. We treasure our opportunity to make a positive impact on our students through music education.

HOW MUSIC LESSONS DEVELOP CONFIDENCE & CREATIVITY

  1. HOW MUSIC LESSONS DEVELOP CONFIDENCE & CREATIVITY Music Lessons Encourage Self-Expression – The simple act of listening to music helps us to connect to our feelings and thoughts. Singing or playing a musical instrument allows our children to express their creativity while gaining awareness of their own feelings and thoughts. Musical expression helps our children build their identity, let loose, and have fun.
  2. Music Lessons Develop Social Skills – As our children gain awareness of their own feelings and thoughts they become attuned to the feelings of others. This builds their empathy, compassion, and connection with the people around them, fostering healthier and more meaningful relationships.
  3. Music Lessons Teach Perseverance – Trying new and challenging things teaches our children to “not give up”. Learning to sing or play an instrument requires overcoming challenging technical skills and teaches students the elegant language of music. Musical accomplishments come in all sizes and teach our children to keep trying even if it takes days, months or even years to succeed. By encouraging our children to “not give up”, they gain the opportunity to experience the victory of perseverance.
  4. Music Lessons Create Endorphins – It is a fact that music stimulates the formation of brain chemicals such as dopamine and oxytocin. When these are released, it results in reduced stress and improved moods in our children.

Our mission at The Music Box is to develop confidence and creativity through music.  Everyday we have the privilege of seeing our students grow under the guidance and support of skilled and compassionate musical mentors.  Our greatest joy is to help young people grow into happy and confident adults.

A:  Students learn a BALANCE of creative and technical skills in a FUN and MOTIVATING environment.

Q:  Are lessons right for your child?

A:  Usually, what peaks an interest in music lessons is a CONNECTION to music.  Since most of our students come to us as beginners, there is no expectation for them to arrive with any knowledge.  At The Music Box, a custom learning path is developed for each student based on their musical interests and goals.  Our primary goal is to foster a lifelong LOVE of music.

Q: What is the right age to start music lessons?

A: We teach music to students of all ages, adults included!  It is never too late to start.  The earliest we accept students for piano is 4, for voice is 5,  and for guitar,  bass and ukulele is 6.  In our experience, these age guidelines set our students up for SUCCESS.  Parents of children under the age of 10 are encouraged to participate in lessons, from time to time, to SUPPORT the learning process.  The ability to learn and speak the language of music in your home accelerates learning and encourages musical play.
