Every year, we like to go somewhere for an experience trip, which is one part of the five gift rule I implemented into our family three years ago for the Navidad (Christmas) season.
In August of 2025, we were blessed with our sweet puppy, and as much as we wanted to take her with us, we made the last minute decision to board her.
I didn’t know where to even look for a boarder so I went on Facebook and searched for “dog boarders near me.” The first one that popped up was Mater’s Place Dog Boarding! There was a phone number listed so I texted and got an immediate response. For me, this is a huge deal! I am a communicator and this quick communication already put me at ease.
After texting back and forth, I felt as though this was exactly where our baby needed to be.
Although I realized it was in Lake Arthur as I mapped it out, it was absolutely perfect for us considering we were going to Houston, Texas. We would be able to take the back road and drop her off, then jump right on I -10 in Jennings, Louisiana to continue our journey. Coming home, we would travel the same route and it turned out perfect!
When I got there, I was met by the owner, saw the very quaint accommodations, and knew we had made the right choice. It was a clean and inviting atmosphere. Our baby seemed like she was ready to go meet her new friends. After dropping her off, we left to celebrate the new year.
The owner was very pleasant and very attentive to my communications throughout our stay in Texas. In my opinion, she is a very loving and caring person, who has rescued her own pets. That speaks volumes to me! It takes a special person to be a pet owner, but an even more special person with a heart to take in and care for those who were left in unfavorable situations, giving them a home and a happy life.
It was absolutely worth the drive in my opinion. Whether we are headed north, east, south, or west, we will be making the drive to Lake Arthur and boarding our precious angel with the best boarding facility that Facebook search could have given us. The daily rate is absolutely the best rate, and compared to the rates locally, the travel time and money spent on gas, it actually balances out. You have a peace of mind money can’t buy leaving your precious fur babies with Mater’s Place Dog Boarding.
