Worth the Drive :: OWA Parks and Resorts {A Theme Park and Indoor Water Park}

While there are tons of things to do with kids in Lafayette, sometimes it takes getting away from it all to appreciate life at home again. Maybe you are looking for a vacation that is within driving distance of Lafayette, or perhaps you are looking for an easy day trip outing with kids (might we recommend Avery Island?!). Lafayette Mom is here to share ideas of enjoying life in Louisiana with kids. If you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway, read below to find out why you should consider OWA Parks and Resorts for your next trip!

OWA Amusement Park, Foley Alabama

Worth the Drive :: OWA Parks and Resorts {A Theme Park and Indoor Water Park}

Over spring break this year, my family took a trip to OWA Parks & Resorts, a theme park and indoor water park combo in Foley, Alabama!

OWA (pronounced OH–WAH) Parks And Resorts

OWA is a theme park where you can enjoy amusement park rides, rollercoasters, and games. OWA is on a 14-acre lake. The amusement park features 21 rides.

Tropical Falls, a huge 100,000-square-foot indoor water park which opened in the summer of 2022 is on the same property as OWA, the theme park.

At the water park, there is a wonderful lazy river that my kids loved. There is also a kids’ water play area, with small slides, as well as water slides with varying sizes and speeds. I liked the fact that there was something for everyone. My thrill-seeking son braved the water slides, while a couple of the other kids enjoyed the slower pace of the lazy river.

There is also a huge outdoor wave pool and during the summer, you can rent a private cabana.

Downtown OWA

Downtown OWA is right outside of the theme park. It is a super cute area with cobblestone streets, restaurants, ice cream shops, and more. There are several restaurants to choose from. We ate at the Groovy Goat, a casual sports restaurant with yummy nachos, salads, and seafood. My kids enjoyed watching sports on the big screens and listening to the band outside. After dining, there are benches where you can sit and listen to a band while you are eating your ice cream from Hershey’s Ice Cream Parlor.

Where to stay?

It really depends on what you are looking for. There is a Marriot TownePlace Suites on the property, which is convenient and has an indoor pool. However, if you love the beach, Orange Beach is only about twenty minutes from Foley, Alabama. You could always stay at the beach and do one day at OWA parks and resorts. We went during Easter break but this could be a nice trip during cooler months, as it is indoors.

This was a quick and easy trip that my kids are still talking about!
