Lipstick Addiction: My 10 Favorite Shades

Hello, my name is Sarah. And I have a lipstick obsession. I cannot go to a drugstore, Sephora, or Ulta without at LEAST glancing at new colors, and often taking a new lippie home with me. I love lipstick. Bold. Bright. Nude. Dark. Love it all.

Here are my 10 all-time favorite shades:

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Pillow Talk, Original

I’m starting with her, because in my opinion she is the HOLY GRAIL of all lipsticks. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Pillow Talk, Original. She is the perfect slightly pinked nude … and is my #1 most-used color. You can tell she is a much beloved tube. AND she is great blended with other colors. Pink too pinky? Layer Pillow Talk on top. Red too loud? Pillow Talk to the rescue. Lighten up a too-dark shade? Here she comes. If you want to splurge on a lippie, she is YOUR GAL. above all others.

L’Oreal Color Riche #720, Aromatte-ic Rose

She is one of my newest shades. L’Oreal Color Riche #720, Aromatte-ic Rose. And she is a near-perfect dupe for Pillow Talk. This is my favorite line of drugstore lipsticks. The colors are saturated and rich, and the lipstick is luxurious and creamy and does not dry out your lips.

L’Oreal Color Riche Matte #712 Matte Mandate

Let’s stick with L’Oreal for a bit. This is my favorite pink lipstick I own PERIODT. I have a very similar color in a luxury brand, but I have to say since I purchased this one, I bypass it for this lipstick every time. L’Oreal Color Riche Matte #712 Matte Mandate. She is BOLD, but oh so lovely. And beautiful on all skin tones.

L’Oreal Color Riche #175 I Pink You’re Cute

Last of the L’Oreals. I was looking for a bright nearly-neon pink … think flamingo + cantaloupe … and she delivers. This is a REALLY fun bright tropical pink. L’Oreal Color Riche #175 I Pink You’re Cute. Think Farm Rio but a lipstick.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick #750 Kiss Me Coral

Another drugstore brand. I was searching for a vibrant coral / tangerine color, and this one fit the bill. She is more coral / tomato but I still like her. The color is not as saturated as the L’Oreal Color Riche, but she has great staying power and coverage over fully lined lips. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick #750 Kiss Me Coral is now a regular in my summer lipstick lineup.

Urban Decay Vice Matte #714

Staying in the red … this Urban Decay Mega Matte #714 gives BIG BOLD color. I do find it to be a bit drying, but it is for sure still a fave. It’s a classic red that gives Old Hollywood vibes. In Bummer News, this link of lipstick is discontinued. However, the Urban Decay Vice Matte #714 looks to be the same color.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Satin Finish in Weho

Another Urban Decay favorite is their Comfort Ware in Heartless. This is a beautiful, retro, 1960s bubble gum pinky nude. Looks AMAZING with a tan. amazing. Unfortunately this too is a discontinued line, but the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Satin Finish in Weho looks to be a similar color.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Let’s Go Crazy

My former favorite Magenta, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Let’s Go Crazy is a gorgeous, deep pink with purple undertones. It is stunning on its own, and plays well with other shades for blending into a more custom color. While it is more drying than my L’Oreal magenta, it does have more staying power.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl … the red that is supposed to look good on everyone … because it does. Love it. Gorgeous color. Fantastic staying power. Slightly drying.

Armani Beauty Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in Redwood

Saved my most expensive for last, but ya’ll I am never wearing another red. This Armani Beauty Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in Redwood is the best red I have ever worn. I have an olive complexion and this slightly brick-y red is stunning. The lipstick is easy to apply, doesn’t stay gummy, feels AMAZING on your lips, and is simply gorgeous.

And, because I mentioned it earlier, it is worth it to find a lipliner that is identical to the natural color of your lips. It may take some trial and error, but fully lining and then filling in your lips with your liner makes your lipstick last so much longer. And that identical shade ensures that your lipstick won’t be tinged by the color of the liner. My favorite is Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk, Original.
